National Transport Commission (NTC) has approved Permanent route permits for the temporarily assigned route permits based on passenger needs have been permanently assigned to the same routes.

During the last period, a group of permanent road permit holders under the National Transport Commission have been temporarily revised for other roads based on the demand of passengers. According to an order given by the court, the road permits given temporarily converted into permanent permits of the same route by charging the prescribed technical values and offered to the permit holders under the chairmanship of the Hon. Minister of Transport, Highways and Mass Media, Dr. Bandula Gunawardena at the Ministerial Auditorium on 14th March

At present, there is a surplus of passenger transport buses in the country and people are gradually moving away from the use of public passenger transportation. Hon State Minister, Mr. Lasantha Alagiyawanna stated on this occasion that everyone should contribute to the successful implementation of public transport services by providing passenger friendly service to the commuters and to rectify this situation. Also, he expressed that no new road permits will be issued in the future for any other reason except under urgent circumstances, and buses will be operated systematically according to a formal integrated timetable.

Ranjith Ganganath Rubasinghe including Additional Secretaries of the Ministry, Chairman of the National Transport Commission, Mr. Shashi Welgama alone with the other officials of the institution and permit holders were participated for this event.
