Renovation of Central Bus Stand – Pettah
INTRODUCTION
The Central Bus Stand (CBS) in Pettah is the premier bus terminal in the country. It is situated at a central location and has direct access to two main roads viz: Bodhiraja Mawatha & Olcott Mawatha.
The CBS performs the following functions:
1) Control and supervision of the bus services commencing/terminating within the premises
2) Sale of season tickets
3) Accident investigation when SLTB buses are involved in Colombo City Limits
4) Operation of substitute buses, as and when necessary
5) Catering to special occasions such as Sinhala/Tamil New Year, Wesak etc.
PURPOSE / BENEFITS
This bus stand was not well maintained during the past years and as a result bus passengers had to face many difficulties. By renovating this bus stand with toilet and seating facilities, the travelling passengers are greatly benefited.. In addition operational time table is also displayed for the convenience of the passengers.

PRESENT STATUS
This project is nearing completion.
PROJECT COMPLETION
It is expected to complete the project in 2010.
